| Second video has a bizarre empty quaterr of an hour appended to it; third video does not seem to exist; fourth video is only a few seconds long. Of course, third and fourth would be the really interesting ones, about dark matter and dark energy... :( |

| As a pilot and a long-time resident of Helsinki I'd like to say that the dcersiption of ATC is well done and accurate.Some additional information could be added, such as the coordination of air traffic by other close airports, such as Malmi which is very close. Controllers from both airports need to communicate with each other and the pilots involved.Also, the coordination between the local tower contoller with the radar controllers, performing hand-offs from one sector to the next. After the departure controller in the radar room accepts a flight from the local tower controller, the departure controller hands off the departure to the center controller who handles the flight on the enroute segment of the flight. An example of this would be the hand-off from Helsinki Center to St. Petersburg Center. Another interesting part of that portion of all flights is that Finland uses altitudes in feet or Flight Levels but in Russia, they assign metric altitudes to all traffic. All regularly scheduled traffic between Russia and Finland have altimeters calibrated in both feet and meters, with a flip-flop switch so the pilot can instantly read his altitude in either unit. |
