Sorry for the delay in finishing the book! I also rlaley liked this novel, it had a slightly absurdist tone to it which I thought was clever and hilarious. I was also impressed at how DeWitt allowed the brothers (particularly Eli) to have a bit of a rough poetry to them. The treatment of horses was very interesting as well. In a western, I feel like horses are simply means of transportation and this stereotype gets a nod by Charlie's initial attitude toward Tub. But Eli challenges this notion and includes Tub into their family. They aren't sentimental about him (which would have changed Tub's position in the story) but he is given qualities that increase his status above Nimble, a horse who is essentially fulfilling his role. Like you Carey, I was waiting to see what the curse would bring. I guess the curse was fulfilled because they didn't complete their mission, but it meant they were reunited with their mother. How did you think the curse manifested in the book? http://dqedcgfqwf.com etwxokz [link=http://dgmxgxtf.com]dgmxgxtf[/link] |
